10 Tips for Healthy Living: Get back control over your body and your life

If your new year’s resolution this year was to get fit, eat better, and live a healthier lifestyle then you are on the right track. Deciding to get fit is a great goal and can greatly alter the way you look, feel, and view life. Starting off the New Year on the right track is going to allow you to build a base for the year ahead of you. If you learn certain tools and skills now, you will be at a much better place when those cravings kick in, events pop up, and the holidays arrive. The following 10 Tips for healthy living were put together for you so that you can be as successful as possible with your New Year’s Resolution.

Tip number 1, set a goal. One of the most important things you can do when first starting your new fit lifestyle is to set a goal. Whether it is to increase your muscle mass by a certain percentage, to decrease your weight by a certain number of pounds, or to even run a marathon, it is very important to set a goal. Tip number 2 is to tell your friends, family members, and co workers about what you are doing. The more support you get the more determined you are going to be to fulfill your goal.

Tip number 3 and 4 go hand in hand, create a schedule and stick to it. By creating a workout schedule you will be more likely to actually fulfill the activities on your calendar. Whether it’s spinning class on Monday mornings and running club on Saturday afternoons, the more you fill up your calendar the more likely you will be to stick to it. Tip number five is to vary your workouts, don’t just run on the treadmill at the gym everyday because you will be more likely to become bored and just quit working out… The more variance you add to your workout s the more likely you will continue with the program.

Focus on eating the right foods, often

Tips number 6 and 7 are to eat healthy and eat often. Focus on your basic fruits and vegetables, protein, and whole grain food. Eat every couple hours, this might seem strange at first but it will help your metabolism out. Tip number 8 is all about getting back on the horse after you have fallen. If you skipped a workout or 3 no sweat, just don’t take the rest of the week off because you think it’s a bust.

Tip 9 is about consistency, once you have something going it’s far easier to keep up. For example making working out in the morning a priority is going to give you a set schedule so you know where you are supposed to be and what you are supposed to be doing. Tips 10 is reward yourself, and make this whole process fun.  Getting in shape, eating right, looking great, and feeling it is what its all about.
